Accelerator phase 2: three months of mentoring
April to June 2025
Accelerate your business with guidance from industry leaders
The important second step of the accelerator are eight online mentoring sessions in the three months after the immersion.
- During the immersion, you will draft a workplan with a view to kickstarting it in the weeks thereafter, with the support of renowned microinsurance experts.
- You will be assigned the expert that best suits the needs of your organisation. You can also apply for extended guidance with onsite visits.

Your anchor hosts
APA Insurance and Britam serve as our anchor hosts for the two-week immersion programme in Kenya.
We will spend time with their leaders and staff, meet distribution partners and visit branches and clients to gain a deep understanding of the pros and cons of their microinsurance business models.
Your facilitators
Passionate and experienced microinsurers will facilitate the two-week immersion:
- Gideon Ataraire is the former CEO of Allianz Life Ghana. He is a seasoned mentor, facilitator and Africa Lead of Microinsurance Master.
- Dr. Neto Ikpeme is a medical doctor turned founder of the insurtech WellaHealth in Nigeria. He joined Techstars, Founders Factory Africa, Google Launchpad and won the Africa Business Heroes Award in 2023.
- Bert Opdebeeck is the founder of Microinsurance Master and a microinsurance enthousiast since 2006. He developed training programmes taught to more than 700 microinsurance practitioners in 40 countries.

When does it start?
Microinsurance Master runs once a year.
The 2025 edition will start in March 2025. The programme will start with a two-week immersion in Kenya, followed by eight mentoring sessions in the three months thereafter.
What is the investment to join?
The investment to join the accelerator is 11,950 US Dollar.

Organisations that cannot pay the full investment upfront may be able to pay by a payment plan or we may be able to discuss alternative funding options.
